I’ve been ruthless lately. For the past few weeks I have been editing a junior novel called Toby & Captain Reality. It’s not your run-of-the-mill novel and certainly won’t appeal to everyone. It is more overt in theme than is popular and some may even say it borders on didactic. I wouldn’t argue with them, but considering the book’s purpose and the niche it may well inhabit, I think it’s entirely appropriate. (more…)

Time to unleash the critic

I haven’t blogged as much lately due to a number of factors, the primary one being my brand-new HP Pavillion laptop died and was whisked away to be repaired. I’m left with my rather old and rather slow laptop that still works but has moments where it will go on strike. It takes so long to load webpages my blog has been neglected. And of course, the other reason I haven’t been blogging is that I’ve been busy – wait for it – editing. (more…)

“The End”

As tired as I am, I couldn’t let the day go past without blogging about the stupendous, magnificent, enormous thing that happened today. I finished my novel. Yep, I wrote my way through 80,000 words until I got to THE END. (Just so you know, I didn’t actually write “The End” as that would have been a little bit lame, even for me…but I might have been just a little bit tempted to.) It is such an amazing feeling to know that I’ve seen this one through. It’s been a great journey. (more…)
