When Dreams Come True…

Many moons ago, when I was in my late teens, I wrote a list of 10 things I wanted to do in my life.  Whilst I can’t remember all 10, I do know that in the last 15 years or so I have been able to cross a few of them off my list.  I rode an elephant in Thailand; I saw a musical on Broadway (Les Miserable); I married the love of my life and I have three beautiful boys.  Today, however, brought about a special kind of dream-come-true. Held Hostage

I was held hostage today.  It’s hard to believe, I know.  Whilst attempting to leave the doctor’s surgery, my path was blocked by a wailing banshee who held me inside the premises against my will.  What’s even harder to believe is that none of the witnesses called 000.  If they had they would have described the juvenile offender as having blonde hair, chocolate brown eyes and standing approximately 100cm tall.  The rest of the waiting room didn’t bat an eyelid to the commotion unfolding in their midst.  Apparently they’ve been parents to an almost three-year-old too.

What Was I Thinking?

If a picture is worth a thousand words, a snapshot of me today would render 996 of those words redundant.  “What was I thinking?”  That says it all really. 

 

It started off quite simply.  We were going to Ipswich to see the much anticipated Play School * concert.  A 10am start would normally be a reasonable time of day for me.  A forty-minute commute would be easy.  The persistent rain would have been annoying but not unwelcome.  The four block walk from the nearest car park to the venue would have been slightly tiresome but manageable.  But there is one small detail – actually, two small details – I have neglected to mention.  I gave birth to identical twins just over two weeks ago.  And yes, vying for the role of Superwoman (look out Megan Gale) I decided to take all three of my boys to the concert.
