Blowing My Trumpet

Success is more fun when it’s shared.  So I’m sharing, OK?

I entered a short story competition a few months ago, purely as an avenue of exploration.  I had never really written a short story and to be honest, I wasn’t even sure I could.  I sat down with my trusty NEO and began to write…For once in my life I was a true ‘pantser’ and didn’t have a clue where the story was going.  Where it ended however, took me by surprise.  I had written my first ridgy-didge short story, Glow.  (You can read it here.)

Deciding to act courageously, I investigated the range of short story competitions around and chose Skive Magazine, purely because of the closing date of the competition.  (Please note:  Skive Magazine publishes a wide range of short stories including those with ‘colourful’ language and content – you have been warned!  Mine is not one of these however…) (more…)
